Bingley Harriers Junior Fell Race Championship
Race 8 Eldwick Gala 29th June 2024

The 8th race in the Junior Fell Champs was our very own Eldwick Gala race.

Before I talk about the days racing, I would like to say a massive Thank you to Andrew and Ceri Coulton and all the team that were involved in making the race a success. Without these dedicated band of Harriers there would have been no Junior Racing so well done for taking it on for the second year and for making it such a great day for all the kids.

We had a whopping 33 runners running across the U9/U11/U13 and U15 categories which was great to see.

The courses are run through the undulating fields around the gala field and offer short sharp climbs rought ground and stram crossings. Due to the nature of the course, I couldn’t see too much of the race but what I can tell you is that all the children looked really strong coming down the last field and into the finish the atmosphere was great with the rec wall lined with spectators cheering all the kids in. There are too many names to mention in a report so I will just highlight some of the top 3 here and you can all look through the results at your leisure.
Josh Bloomfield 3rd U9
Elsie Henry 2nd U9
Olivia Pedley 3rd U11
Charlie Porteous 1st U13
Hannah Dennis 2nd U13
Charlotte Pedley 3rd U13
Sam Lephard 1st U15
Marcie Ford 2nd U15
Ailsa Coulton 3rd U15
Well done to all the kids it was a great turnout and lovely to see the Blue and Whites streaming into the finish.
After the junior races had finished some of our older Juniors in the U15 catergory had decided to take on the senior fell race as under FRA rules they were allowed to compete at the distance.
This race would be a fast down hill sprint the Eldwick Beck then up the moor to the trig poing a quick turn then back down to the Beck then the dreaded uphill to the Acorn pub and another climb up the field into the Gala funnel.
A massive well done to Jake Norris who fended off my good friend Simon Bell even after going wrong twice Jake still secured the win by just 3 seconds. Well done Jake your definitely back running well after your injury. Thomas Jebb was our next boy in and finished in 23rd overall , but was 5th in the U15 catergory Jude was next in 36th and was 6th U15 and Sam Lephard was 45th and 7th U15.
Well done to all the boys that was a step up but there were 91 runners in the race most of them adults and you did very very well and produced some great times.
Not to be out done by the boys we had 2 girls in the race Sophie Edwards and Isabelle Jebb who battled well to the top but it was Sophie this week who got the better line on the decent and came home first U15 girl and 3rd overall lady.
Well done Sophie that was a excellent run.
Isabelle was 2nd U15 and 6th lady again a really strong run. Well done to all.

my reporter is still working on the report from murder mile which has now passed , Sorry for her slackness.
