The timing team at the West Yorkshire Athletics Cross Country at Thornes Park, Wakefield on Sun 16 Nov 2025 helped John Capenerhurst time his last race with them. Patrick Francis, one of the team, framed a Woodentops picture of John sat at the finish line of an event, watch in hand, smiling, a picture that will be very familiar to many Bingley Harriers and many other club athletes whether at a cross country race, a club handicap, a track & field match, or a club fell race in his home village of Eldwick. In the morning Tony Kingham said a few words about John at one of the Junior races and there was a round of applause.

The team then presented the picture to Bingley Harriers, his long term home club. John sat at the Club tent and then joined the Senior Men after their race, held with care by Ben Rees, the youngest member of the team. The picture will be put up at the Bradford & Bingley Sports Club by the Bingley Harriers display cabinet.
