The Alan Kirk Memorial Lad’s Leap – No 3 in the Club Fell Champs and the second English Fell Championship Race. Entries are currently (24 Jan) open for FRA members with entry for non-FRA members to ‘open soon’. If you are an FRA member – get your entry in now; if you are not then keep your eyes on the race website for entries opening for you. If you are a regular on the fells I recommend joining the FRA for ‘all things fell’. Cheryl did just that and got her entry in. Good one Cheryl.
If this date doesn’t work for you – don’t worry there are still plenty of races to earn points for the Fell Championship or simply to join in a fell race with fellow club members.
Details : Start Women 11:00, Men, 12.30 at outdoor centre, Woodhead Road, Crowden, Glossop SK13 1HZ.
Minimum age: 16
Entries : £11 pre-entry only, open (24 Jan) for FRA members; ‘open soon’ for Non-FRA members.
Map – see map in header or attached file
We already have a number of runners entered and it would be great to see more. Any queries – contact Becky, Paul or Andy as below.
Full details of the Club Fell Champs are in the Fell section under Disciplines. All the races are run under Fell Runners Association rules – see Requirements for Runners on
https://www.fellrunner.org.uk/documents.php. Assume you need full kit and note that electronic / GPS navigation aids are not allowed in races.
If you are new to the fells but would like to give it a go we can help with advice, kit, maps etc. There is an Introduction to Fell Running which may answer some of your queries, on Team App under Disciplines :
https://bingleyharriers.teamapp.com/clubs/567035/teams/977224?_detail=v1I would like as many people to join in as possible even if you can’t manage 6 events to score.
We are also targeting teams at the English Fell Champs races and relay teams for Calderdale Way (Sun 19 May), the Bradford Millenium Way (Sun 9 Jun) and the October Fell Relays in the Lakes – Hodgson Brothers Mountain Relay (Sat 5 Oct) and the British Fell Relay (Sat 19 Oct). Even if you are new to the fells we can help you build your fell skills and experience so you are ‘ready to relay’, and October comes around surprisingly quickly ;-).
Get in touch with the Fell Team Managers Becky Weight (beckyweight@btinternet.com), Paul Crabtree (paulcrabtree67@yahoo.com), or Andy Jebb (andrewjebb2@gmail.com) if you are interested or to chat about what would be good for you, or pick up with some of the regular fell runners on our training sessions.
