A very local, medium length fell race. Not too much ascent so mostly runnable for the mortal amongst us. And nothing too technical, beyond a bog or two to get across (it has kept raining this year) and some narrow paths in the heather, so great for a longer try out if you are looking to gain experience on the fells.
Details : Start 11:00. Min age 18. Enter on the Day – £5, Timble village
Map – see map in header or attached file.
Take full FRA kit with you and be prepared to carry it; if the weather is good the Race Organiser may waive some or all of the kit requirement.
Full details of the Club Fell Champs are in the Fell section under Disciplines; 12 races, your best 6 at two distances, to score. All the races are run under Fell Runners Association rules – see Requirements for Runners on
https://www.fellrunner.org.uk/documents.php. Assume you need full kit and note that electronic / GPS navigation aids are not allowed in races.
If you are new to the fells but would like to give it a go we can help with advice, kit, maps etc. There is an Introduction to Fell Running which may answer some of your queries, on Team App under Disciplines :
https://bingleyharriers.teamapp.com/clubs/567035/teams/977224?_detail=v1I would like as many people to join in as possible even if you can’t manage 6 events to score.
We are also targeting teams at the English Fell Champs races (Blisco Dash is next – see separate Event) and the October Fell Relays in the Lakes – Hodgson Brothers Mountain Relay (Sat 5 Oct) and the British Fell Relay (Sat 19 Oct). Even if you are new to the fells we can help you build your fell skills and experience so you are ‘ready to relay’, and October comes around surprisingly quickly ;-).
Get in touch with the Fell Team organisers Becky Weight (beckyweight@btinternet.com), Dave Stephenson (dave.stephenson@blueyonder.co.uk) or Andy Jebb (andrewjebb2@gmail.com) if you are interested or to chat about what would be good for you.
